HAVE EXTRA Halloween CANDY you are looking to unburden your family with?
Tritt PTA Community Outreach is collecting left-over Halloween Candy for the Northside Hospital Leukemia and Bone Marrow Transplant Center. They would love to take the extra candy off your hands to provide comfort to their patients. Please consider sending in your extra candy. Donation Dates/Times: Tuesday, Nov 1 thru Thursday, Nov 3 We will accept donations in the front lobby from 7:15am until 8am each day. Many thanks to each and every one of you for your generous donations for the Tritt Tiger DASH. We had a great time completing the obstacle course on Friday. Many thanks to the PTA for planning such a fun event for our school. Our field trip to the Tellus Museum is this Thursday. Please have your child wear their red class shirt. If you want your child to go to the gift store, please send in $5 cash in a sandwich-sized Ziploc bag with your child's name written in Sharpie. If your child is bringing lunch from home, please pack it in disposable containers that can be thrown away.

Our class has met their first three goals. The students have enjoyed extra recess, popsicles, and homework passes as incentives for meeting the first two goals. We will have our Movie and PJ day this Wednesday in celebration of meeting our 3rd goal! The last count day is Thursday, October 27th. Our class goal is for each student to collect $100 in donations and our incentive is Electronics Day.

The purpose of this event is to raise money to support lots of great enrichment programs at our school likes Arts in Ed Day, International Night, Exceptional Children’s week and Screen on the Green. We Need You!!! The Tiger Dash Committee needs volunteers to monitor the obstacles. This is going to be a fun event with classes competing against the classes in their grade for the fastest time. I'm especially excited about the new course and the team-oriented focus, much like American Ninja Warrior. The class voted and our team name is Waters' Warriors - the perfect name for a Warrior Dash. The money you donate goes directly back to Tritt and ALL students will benefit from your generous donations. The class and I are super excited about the new water fountains that the DASH money will buy - perfect for refilling water bottles to keep our bodies hydrated and our minds focused on learning. The first count day is Monday, October 17th. Our class goal is for each student to collect $25 in donations and our incentive is extra recess. Thank you for your support.

Please continue to practice facts daily. Reading - In reading groups, we will continue learning about informational text and text features which will be our primary focus throughout the quarter. Understanding and using these features helps improve our comprehension of informational text. Language Arts Writing - Informational Writing Grammar - Verbs Science - Weathering and Erosion continued Social Studies - Geography continued (locating the Rocky and Appalachian Mountains on a U.S. map) We will begin learning about our first Patriot - Paul Revere. This will tie into our informational writing when we write about a famous patriot. Tritt PTA is doing its annual fundraiser this year with a new “Ninja Warrior” type obstacle course. Each class will be competing as a whole against other classes in their grade for the fastest completion time! The students learned all about it today and can give you details. Please help us raise money for our PTA so they can continue to support our students and staff. There will be prizes for the classes with the fastest time in their grade, the kindest/most spirited class, and the class with the best class poster/name. Also, the class with the fastest time in each grade will be getting a Sno-Cone party!!!! The school-wide goals are:

Here's a look at what we're learning next week: Math - Division We will continue using different strategies like fact families, repeated subtraction, using a number line, and drawing groups to solve division problems. We are working on using Math vocabulary like divisor, dividend, and quotient when talking and writing about division. Please have your child practice their multiplication facts on a daily basis. Reading - In reading groups, we will begin learning about informational text and text features. Understanding and using these features helps improve our comprehension of informational text. Language Arts Writing - We will finish Opinion Writing (which will be revisited later in the school year) and begin informational writing. Grammar - Pronoun Antecedents Spelling - Sort 7 Ambiguous Vowels aw, au, al, ou Sort 7 Test on Friday Science - Weathering and Erosion Social Studies - Geography STEM - Mineral Display Case We worked in groups to plan and begin creating our mineral display case. Your child may bring in supplies from home for this STEM Challenge. Computer Lab - We made graphic organizers using the computer. Science Lab - Be sure to ask us what we did with Mr. Giunta! ILC - Mrs. Bates introduced us to the essential research publishing skills of Microsoft Word. Guidance - We met with Mrs. Edwards this past Monday. You're going to want to ask your child what we did outside with her!
