3rd grade will be taking the Cogat on Tuesday through Thursday of this week. IOWA testing starts on Friday and continues through next Wednesday. What can you do to help your child do their best? Get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning. Please have your child at school in our classroom before the bell rings as we begin testing immediately after announcements.
Save the Date: September 20th
Be sure to mark your calendars for the Tritt - Mt. Bethel Faculty Kickball Game on September 20th at 5:00 at the Walton High School Baseball Field. Join us as we raise money for Rally - a charity that raises money for Childhood Cancer. I hope to see you there!
Here's a look at what we're learning this week:
Math - Multiplication
We will be focusing on multiplying using different strategies like making an array, repeated addition, using a number line to skip count, and making a picture. It makes multiplication so much easier when your child fluently knows the basic multiplication facts. We will be taking timed tests to build fact fluency. We will continue using the problem solving steps (Understand, Solve, Explain) to solve multi-step word problems throughout the year.
Reading - We will be focusing on using context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words. During independent reading time in class your child should be reading a book in their lexile range which is their independent reading level. Your child may choose to read books at a different level at other times.
September Book Report is due October 6th.
