Be sure to ask your child about our STEAM Challenge - Stuck Like Glue! Today students worked in groups to create glue which correlates with our Science standard about matter changing states and our Art Standard about creating artwork emphasizing an art element - lines.
Your child can log into Moby Max at home and practice Fact Fluency. I've shown the students how to log in to Moby Max at school. It might be helpful to bookmark the site on your home computer. Your child has their log in information on the inside cover of their agenda. Remember that Monday is Labor Day so enjoy the 3 day weekend! This past week we went to Computer Lab and learned how to log in to MobyMax. Your child has a parent letter with log in instructions in their orange folder. Please keep these instructions in order for your child to use MobyMax at home.
Performing Arts permission slips were sent home this past week. Please sign and return the permission. We will be going to the ballet this year as part of our Performing Arts. We will have our lesson with Mrs. Grindstaff on Thursday and go to the LLC for check out on Friday this week. Wednesday is an Early Release day so students will be dismissed 2 hours early. FAST classes are underway. Please remember to write a transportation note for the first day of FAST class stating what class your child is taking and how they will go home after the class. Picture Day is Thursday, August 22nd. Morning Run starts on Friday for 2nd Grade. Please have your child wear tennis shoes to school on Fridays to participate in Morning Run in the gym. Students need to come to our classroom to drop off their backpacks before going to the gym. We will go to the LLC (library) on Friday to check out books. If your child does not have a pencil box, please send a small pencil box with your child to school on Monday. This is so helpful in keeping their supplies and desks organized. It should be able to hold a box of crayons, a glue stick, pencils, a pen, a highlighter, and scissors. The small size measures approximately 8 inches x 2 inches. Open House for 2nd Grade is on Tuesday, August 6th. There will be a PTA meeting followed by two sessions in which I will cover the same information. Session 1 starts at 6:30 and Session 2 starts at 7:30. Many thanks for all of the Wish List items that have already been sent in! I appreciate your kindness and generosity.
