Save the Date: September 20th
Be sure to mark your calendars for the Tritt - Mt. Bethel Faculty Kickball Game on September 20th at 5:00 at the Walton High School Baseball Field. Join us as we raise money for Rally - a charity that raises money for Childhood Cancer. Flyers were sent home last week with information and order forms. I hope to see you there! Gifted Eligibility Process Informational Meeting Tritt’s Target Team will hold our annual Gifted Eligibility Process Informational Meeting on Thursday, September 1st, at 6:00 p.m. in the ILC. We will explain Cobb County’s eligibility process and criteria for the gifted program. If you are wondering about this process and how it relates to your child or have specific questions, please plan to join us on September 1st! Here's a look at what we're learning this week: Math - Subtraction Strategies: Friendly Numbers Regrouping Number Line Reading - Determining the main idea and supporting details in a text Language Arts - Personal Narratives - Writing a strong lead Grammar - Concrete and Abstract Nouns Spelling - Sort 3 Words: Long Vowel Patterns VCC-igh and Open Syllables -y, -ay, -ew, and -ow There will be a Spelling test on Sort 3 words this Friday. Students have the word list written in their planner. Science - Rocks and minerals Social Studies - The 3 Levels of Government (Local, State, and National) STEM: Introduction to fossils with a Fossil Excavator Design Challenge Guidance - We have Guidance with Mrs. Edwards on Monday. ILC - We have a lesson with Mrs. Bates on Thursday. Garden - Be sure to ask us about our 1st lesson in the garden with Mrs. Stone on Wednesday! Reminders: Transportation changes must be made in writing. If your child is staying after school for a FAST class, please send me a written note the first day of the FAST class. You do not need to send a weekly note for the same FAST class once I have the initial note, unless your child is not attending their FAST class that day. Math: Place Value and Different Ways to Write a Number (standard form, word form, expanded form, place value chart, and place value blocks Reading: Genres of Literature & Reading Strategies for Comprehension (Asking questions while reading) Language Arts: Personal Narratives, Nouns (Common & Proper) Science: Properties of Minerals Social Studies: Map Skills (Compass Rose, Latitude and Longitude) STEM: Olympic Symbol Challenge Reminders: Open House is this Thursday, August 11th. There will be two sessions from 6:00 - 6:45 and from 7:00 - 7:45. Picture Day is August 24th. Our class is off to a great start in 3rd grade. Your child is bringing home their purple communication folder and planner daily. Please clean out the “Keep at Home” side of their folder and check the “Return to School” side for homework and important information. The Tiger Tale in your child’s folder needs to be signed at the end of each week and returned the following Monday. It should stay in your child’s folder. Your child is writing their classwork in pencil and their homework in pen in their planner. I will explain this and other important classroom procedures and expectations at Open House next Thursday, August 11th. There will be two sessions:
